My Timeline of Ancient Greece
Early (B.C) Times
I'm Bryce and I'm doing a timeline.
*In 2900 B.C., The Minoans began a civilization on the tiny island of Crete, off the mainland of Greece
*Suddenly (Not really it was 1500 years later) in 1400 B.C., The Minoan civilization begins to decline.
*50 years later, in 1450 B.C., the Mycenaean's take over the failing isle of Greece.
*By 1100 B.C., the Mycenae people begin to decline, and Greece enters its Dark Age. (Mycenae was governed by a monarchy)
*In 800 B.C., something amazing must've happened because suddenly, Greece decides to emerge from its Dark Age.
*800's B.C., Priests begin to build shrines dedicated to Apollo & Delphi.
*776 B.C., The OLYMPIC games begin in Olympia.
*500 B.C., Athenians begin building temples on their Acropolis.
*490 B.C., The first Persian War. Greece wins.
*456 B.C., Zeus' temple is complete.
*450 B.C., Greece begins to enter its Golden Age.
*447 B.C., The Greeks begin building the Parthenon.
*300 B.C. (circ.) The Epidarus theatre is built.
*146 B.C., Greece becomes apart of the Roman Empire.
*4 B.C., The Greek Empire ends after the powerful, lasting Peloponnesian War.
End of Greek Empire.
PRESENT DAY
*2002, A.D., The Euro replaces the Drachma.
*2008, A.D., Riots and Protests take place.
*2011, A.D., Greece's Prime Minister steps down after unrelenting protesters.
