In matters of Social Groups, or a "status quo" Greece had one. There was no aristocracy, which means a group of higher privileged people. There was a working class though. You had the slaves, shopkeepers, and slaveowners. In Athens alone, nearly 1/3 of the population were slaves! The slaveowners were extremely harsh, like those of the Civil War.
In the later years of Greece, there were Citizens, and there were Metics. Citizens had two Athenian born parents. Metics were immigrants. Ancient Greece had absolutely no respect for women, and women were just used for organizing the house, having children, and entertaining men. The slaves were craftsmen, and the workers. Sometimes, immigrants were mandated to join the Greek military.
As far as traditions, Olympics was very big. The Olympic Games were played by men, and could only be watched by men. Boys were taught gymnastics, and it was important for them. Boys learned to play ball, amongst other games for sports.
For the Greeks' diet, they ate grains, figs, wheat (bread), barley, olives, bread dipped in wine, cheese, honey, dried fish, and meat handed out in the marketplace after some of it was offered to the gods (see religion).
For the higher groups, life was good, because life is naturally good for the wealthy. The slaves lives were depressing, and brutal. The slaveowners lives were laid back, and happy due to the slaves. The higher groups did not own jobs. That was for middle class workers.
The homes for each class were the same. The homes were generally large, and consisted of a court yard. The houses were made of sun-dried brick.
The Greeks got their food from farming, and farming only. That was the only way to get food. Farming, and animals. the Greek rarely ate meet.
The Greek furnishings have had a great impact on Western furnishings. They used the average chests, tables, chairs and couches. It was a nice house inside, because the living room was open, and let the breeze blow through.
The Greeks had only a few disadvantages. Sparta was one. Sparta was a powerful group that later took over Greece. The advantages the Greek had include the vast number of foods the Greek could grow. The olive trees were very good for the Greeks, due to their symbol to the gods. Greece had a powerful military, because every man learned how to fight. This was an advantage.
